Form 53 - Gus Leen Design. Ponga Lamp

Ponga’s design is based on the cylindrical form of a Ponga tree trunk. Offered in both small and large sizes, Ponga sits elegantly in both a large space or corner of a room, casting subtle shadows on the surrounding walls and flooring.

Ponga is the Māori term for the native New Zealand tree fern, more commonly known as 'Punga'. Ponga’s design is based on the cylindrical form of a Ponga tree trunk. Over time, these trunks tend to hollow out if the tree has sustained partial damage, allowing bacteria to cause a cavity to form.

Featuring an array of sustainably grown bamboo plywood uprights, the end grain of the bamboo makes for a detailed feature if opting for the natural finish. Ambient light is dispersed between each upright, casting subtle shadows on the surrounding walls and flooring.
